Conductive Music

Here at Sunderland Music Hub we are proud of our partnership with Conductive Music which allows primary school aged children from across the city to experience music in a different way. Through a series of workshops, children have the opportunity to make their own instruments using electronics and other objects. Workshops this year saw young people creating pianos using pieces of fruit and music with robotics!

Conductive Music say:

We love to design, build, push our inventions to the limit until they break, then take them apart, fix them, and learn everything about them. The joy of imagining and then bringing your own instrument to life is infectious and we want to share it. We want to inspire inventors who know what to do when stuff goes wrong. We want to show them how to embrace failure, to boost resilience and to grow, independently, through trial and error.

Conductive Music deliver their workshops across the globe, and following incredible feedback from last year’s sessions, our partnership will see the organisation return to Sunderland this year where they will visit six schools across December, January and February.

“Children were very engaged, especially year 3/4 where there are many children with additional needs. They loved it and found it very interesting. To let the children complete more experiments and link music and maths to computing. A very interesting and inspiring day both for the children and the staff. We were amazed at some of the new technology you showed us. Thank you” – Sunderland Primary School Teacher
