Soundabout at Summer Streets

We are pleased to be holding our next Soundabout get-together at Summer Streets festival and would like to invite current and new families to join us!

Soundabout is an online singing and music-making space for learning disabled young people with complex support needs and their families. Taking place every Thursday, this is a space for young people to explore their musical interests and meet likeminded young people.

Each term we also host an in-person activity, so that young people and their families can come-together with support from professional community musicians.

On the 6th July, we will be taking over the workshop tent at Summer Streets festival, with Ashleigh Lowes and Chad Langford leading a special 45-minute session, starting at 3:15pm.

Summer Streets is a free-entry music, arts & community festival held annually at Cliffe Park, Roker. Sunderland Music Hub have been invited to programme a day of activity in the festival’s workshop tent, with our Soundabout session being scheduled for learning disabled young people to have their own music-making space.

Summer Streets festival is made up of several other tents and stages and which feature a range of music and activities across the whole weekend. The festival is situated on Cliffe Park’s field with minimal footpath access and, as a popular annual event, is expected to busy and with other audible activity taking place across the site.

Both new and existing members of our Soundabout group are welcome to join us at Summer Streets. If you plan on coming along, please could you let us know using this form so we can plan accordingly for the session.

Should you have any questions about the Soundabout session or site’s accessibility, please get in contact with James.Hayes@togetherforchildren.org.uk.
